COTEX sources ceramic media from the best suppliers around the world. This media is excellent for cutting, deburring and improving the surface of parts. This tumbling media contains various levels of abrasive material depending on the application.
Selecting the size and shape of the depends on the component being finished. Small media is less aggressive than larger media and provides a better surface finish. Angles and edges are more aggressive than round shapes.
Compositions:
Media- Contains a fine grain aluminum oxide baked into the ceramic shape. It provides a smooth finish while still allowing fast metal removal with medium wear. It produces fine finishes on softer metals such as aluminum, copper and brass.
Contains a coarser grain aluminum oxide and provides an excellent cut to wear ratio making it a very efficient composition. This general purpose media can be used on all ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
An aggressive higher density media is very durable and fracture resistant. Recommended for heavy deburring operations.
Porcelain media works great for polishing and burnishing parts. This media contains no abrasive compound and doesn’t remove material from parts. COTEX typically uses this in the final step of processes. It can also be used in simple deburring applications or to add a radius to part edges.
Mass Finishing offers four different shapes in porcelain media. The right size and shape for your application depends on the geometry of the component. If there are small openings it may be best to choose a larger size to prevent media from lodging.
